Independent Age is a charity offering free, confidential advice over the telephone for older people, their families and carers on issues such as getting help at home, adaptations, care assessments, paying for care, staying in touch with other people and welfare benefits.

Independent Age can provide you and your family with clear, free and impartial advice on care and support, money and benefits, health and mobility as well as offering volunteer befriending services to the elderly.

With over 1,500 volunteers and a small number of paid staff, Independent Age offer a range of services across the UK and Ireland including:

  • An advice and information service offering expert personalised support by phone and email to almost 4,000 older people and their families each year including care options and assessments, finding and paying for care, funding concerns and making a complaint.
  • Advice Guides, Factsheets and Leaflets on the most common issues faced by older people, such as benefits and entitlements, moving into a care home, paying for care and much more.
  • Wise Guide offering practical information and advice for over-65s on finances, staying independent and getting the most out of later life.
