If your husband, wife or civil partner died on or after 6 April 2017 you may be eligible for Bereavement Support Payment which has replaced Bereavement Allowance, Widowed Parents Allowance and Bereavement Payment.

Breavement Support Payment has replaced Bereavement Allowance, Widowed Parents Allowance and Bereavement Payment. 

It consists of an initial lump-sum followed by up to 18 monthly instalments and  you won't have to pay tax on any of the payments or the lump sum.

You cannot get the Bereavement Support Payment if you are divorced, your civil partnership is dissolved or you were living with someone else when your husband, wife or civil partner died.
