Working parents who lose a child under the age of 18 have the right to take two weeks’ paid bereavement leave.

Working parents who lose a child under the age of 18 or suffer a stillbirth from 24 weeks of pregnancy, from day one of employment will be entitled to two weeks’ statutory parental bereavement leave (SPBL) within 56 weeks of the death of the child.

If the working parent  has 26 weeks’ continuous employment they will be further entitled to statutory parental bereavement pay (SPBP) subject to certain  qualifying conditions.
