If you are adopting a child or having a child through a surrogacy arrangement, you are entitled to a year of Statutory Adoption Leave plus you may be entitled to Statutory Adoption Pay.

If you are adopting or fostering a child permanently and becoming their legal parent (‘fostering to adopt’) you are entitled to 52 weeks off work and you could also be eligible for Statutory Adoption Pay for 39 weeks.

Your employer pays the Statutory Adoption Pay.
