Age UK is the country's largest charity formed in 2008 from the merger of Help the Aged and Age Concern, and is dedicated to providing life-enhancing services and vital support & companionship to people in later life.

Free friendship calls for the over-60s

Having a friendly, weekly, 30-minute chat on the phone can make all the difference if you are living on your own.

Age UK and their partner charity The Silver Line offer you Telephone Friendship, a free telephone befriending service for matching volunteers with older people to enjoy a weekly phone chat about anything from the weather to what's been going on in both their lives.

There are many social groups organised by older people for older people throughout the UK whether you're interested in finding new friends or making your voice heard on issues that affect people in later life.
