Action for Children is a UK children's charity created to help vulnerable children and young people, and their families, in the UK

Action for Children has 7,000 staff and volunteers, who operate over 500 services in the UK. They have helped a total of 671,275 children in 2021 and 2022.

Up until September 2008 the charity was known as the National Children’s Home (NCH), but changed its name to reflect the wider work it undertakes.

Services

Action for Children runs specialist projects for disabled children and those with learning and behavioural difficulties as well as helping vulnerable and disadvantaged young people with issues they may face including alcohol and substance misuse, anti-social behaviour, homelessness and unemployment and sexual abuse. They are also a major provider of family support services working in partnership with local authorities across the UK and is a registered adoption agency delivering adoption and fostering programmes.

Children's Centres

Action for Children also runs 55 children's centres and 46 nurseries across England with specialised support to give children the best start in life through play, learning and personal development.They also offer classes and tailored individual support for parents.
