Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) are grants to help toward meeting the additional studying costs or expenses that students face as a direct result of a disability or specific learning difficulty.
If you have a disability or specific learning difficulty and are studying in higher education, you may be eligible for Disabled Students' Allowances (DSAs).
They are intended to help disabled students study on an equal basis with other students.
Full-time, part-time and postgraduate students all qualify for help.
DSA's are paid on top of the standard student finance package and are not means-tested.
You may be eligible for help with the costs of:
- Specialist equipment, e.g. a computer if you need one because of your disability
- Non-medical helpers
- Additional travel costs because of your disability
- Other disability-related costs of studying
