Carer's Allowance is money for people who provide regular care to someone who has a disability.

Carer's Allowance

You may be eligible for Carer’s Allowance if you are over 16 and you look after someone with substantial caring needs for more than 35 hours a week.

The person you care for must already be receiving a benefit because of their disability.

You may not qualify for Carer’s Allowance if you are in full-time education or earn more than a fixed amount per week.

Full details of eligibility, how to claim and how much Carer's Allowance you might receive are available at GOV.UK.

The weekly rate for Carer’s Allowance may be reduced depending on the amount of other benefits you may receive, such as State Pension.

Further information is available at the following links:

Even more importantly, Carer's Allowance may affect any other benefits, allowances, pensions and entitlements you, or the person you care for, are receiving. Further details are set out at this link.

You can apply for Carer’s Allowance by applying on-line or by downloading the form.

If you get any amount of State Pension, then you can apply for Carer’s Allowance using a shortened form at this link.
