My Advice Gateway
WELCOME TO MY ADVICE GATEWAY

My Advice Gateway is a free resource to help you quickly find the information you need to claim benefits, access help and support or look for a job or training opportunities. Other services include sections on banking, insurance and how to manage debt.

There is so much information available on the internet that it can often be a tedious and time consuming activity to search through the mass of advice that is available in order to find the information you need. Even government websites that have been set up to provide help can be difficult to find your way around.

My Advice Gateway has been built to help you find the information you need quickly and effectively. Links will take you to authoritative advice or the precise application form you need.

We hope you will find My Advice Gateway useful. If you do, why not tell your friends. . .

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 provides public access to information held by public authorities.

It does this in two ways:

  • Public authorities are obliged to publish certain information about their activities
  • Members of the public are entitled to request information from public authorities

The Data Protection Act 2018 protects the privacy and integrity of data held about individuals by businesses and other organisations. The act ensures that individuals (customers and employees) have access to their data and can correct it, if necessary.

The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) is responsible for regulating and enforcing the access to and use of personal information.

Full details of Data protection and GDPR ia available at MAG - Data Protection and GDPR.

Use of CCTV

The majority of uses of CCTV are covered by the data Protection Act giving you the right to view CCTV images of you, or images which give away information about you (such as your car number plate).

Full details of your rights and how to request a copy of CCTV images can be found at the ICO website.

Full details of how to contact the ICO are available at this link.

Press Complaints

Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) is an independent body which administers the system of self-regulation for the press. It does so primarily by dealing with complaints about the editorial content of newspapers and magazines (and their websites) and the conduct of journalists. Up until 8th September 2014 it was known as The Press Complaints Commission.

To register a complaint about a newspaper or magazine article or about harassment from the press follow this link.
